Send the damage from your driveway. Straight on, then at an angle with a reflection running across the panel — that second shot is the one that tells us how deep it is.
Downtown Stillwater has beautiful angled parking and brutal door-ding math. We are a short drive over the river in River Falls, and door dings are the repair we do more than any other.
Historic downtowns were not laid out for modern vehicle widths. Angled stalls along Main Street, packed lots during lift bridge and riverboat season, and a steady flow of visitors who are not used to the parking add up to one thing: doors hitting doors.
The good news is that this exact damage — round, shallow, one panel, paint intact — is the cleanest paintless dent repair there is. No filler, no sanding, no repaint, and usually finished the same day. Your factory finish stays your factory finish.
This is the single most common mistake we see from customers who cross the river. Minnesota and Wisconsin set different limits, and a film that is perfectly legal on one side of the St. Croix can get you pulled over on the other.
Under Minnesota Statute 169.71, side and rear windows may not have a light transmittance below 50 percent, plus or minus three percent, or a luminous reflectance above 20 percent. Wisconsin is more permissive behind the driver. If your vehicle is registered in Minnesota, that is the standard that follows it — including when it is parked in Hudson.
Minnesota pre-treats roads aggressively, and brine is chemically nastier to a finish than rock salt alone. It creeps into seams, sits in the lower door edges, and dries into a film that a touchless wash mostly redistributes.
A properly prepared and coated panel does not stop that from happening — it stops it from sticking. Combined with correction beforehand where the paint needs it, that is the difference between a five-year-old car that looks it and one that does not.
You should never guess at a repair price, and you should never make the half-hour drive to find out we can't help. Three steps, no games.

We come back with the price, the method, and the turnaround before you leave Stillwater. If paintless isn't the right path, we tell you that instead of selling you something.
Most single-panel work is finished the same day, so the drive happens once. Bigger jobs get a firm pickup time, not a "we'll call you."
Our shop is at 663 Valerie Ave in River Falls, WI — a straightforward drive from the Stillwater area. Text photos before you come.
For drivers coming from the Minnesota side.
For a same-day, factory-paint repair at a real price, most people think so. Text photos first and you will know the price and the timeline before you decide — no wasted trip either way.
Minnesota Statute 169.71 prohibits side and rear windows below 50 percent light transmittance (plus or minus three percent) or above 20 percent reflectance, with statutory exemptions including documented medical exemptions and certain vehicle types. Wisconsin is more permissive behind the driver, which is exactly why people get caught. We will not install a film that puts you outside your own state's limit without telling you plainly first.
Yes. Aluminum behaves differently from steel — it work-hardens and resists returning to shape — so it takes more heat cycles and a slower hand. It is a normal part of what we do, not an exception we make.
We can document the damage panel by panel and give you a real repair scope. How the claim itself is handled is between you and your insurer — coverage, deductible and approval are their decisions, and we are careful not to speak for them.
